Myanmar 2017: Shwedagon Pagoda

There are two famous Pagodas in Yangon, the first one is Sule Pagoda, located in downtown Yangon. The second one is Swedagon Pagoda, I think it is the biggest one in Myanmar.

The Shwedagon Pagoda fficially named Shwedagon Zedi Daw  and also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar. The 326-foot-tall (99 m)[1] pagoda is situated on Singuttara Hill, to the west of Kandawgyi Lake, and dominates the Yangon skyline. Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.(wikipedia)

I went to Swedagon Pagoda, after I came back from Bagan. It was very easy to reach Swedagon Pagoda, you can ride bus No. 34 with Air Con then stop at Swedagon bus stop, then you walked about 500 meters. Just be cautious of dogs, many wild dog wondering around Swedagon Area. Before you enter you must take of your shoes or sandals. The best time to visit is before sunset, you can enjoy and relax by watching sunset, it could be more romantic if you go with someone special, since I went by myself, so I was enjoying by myself. Many photography club took sunset photo at Swedagon.
